One day, while Gordon was in the early stages of the thought process, long time friend Tony, called to tell him that he had the perfect name for his new business venture. Meanwhile, beeping in on call waiting was Gordon's wife Patti. She also told him that she had the perfect name. Her idea, was to take the first letters of each of their childrens names and put them together. "MAG" from Maggie, their daughter's name, followed by "DA" from Davis, their son's name, combining to form the word "MAGDA".

Gordon acknowledged the fact that MAGDA would be a good name, but he told her that Tony was on the other line with another suggestion and that he needed to swap over. It must have been fate, because when Tony conveyed his idea, it was the exact same one. Thus, Magda Wholesale Kitchens & Baths was born.
